They published those new rules in a Ford chart and sent it to all Ford dealers, plus they made it available on the internet. They waited a few more months to be sure all the old stuff was off the shelves, then they issued a TSB and otherwise informed all Ford techs of the new application rules for ATF in Ford transmissions. Then they told all the marketers of MERCON that they could no longer sell MERCON after a certain date - July 1st, 2007. Then Ford spent gobs of money to be sure all the left-over old formula of MERCON V was no longer available for sale. The new formula is compatible with our 4R100 tranny. But you don't believe the answer.įord changed the formula for MERCON V a long time ago - more than two years ago. Kevin, you have been told the answer to that question several times. Just like how they got away with charging us almost $200 for a CPS, and now they are a mere $30. If you believe Ford is out for your best intrests that is fine, I'm not so trusting.

Than tell me how MerconV is all of a sudden good for our tranny's when in every owners manual is clearly states we are not to use it! We see alot of failed tranny's here because alot of people here only post when broken OR people here are running higher than stock HP and TQ.if stock trucks start failing transmissions only because of the fluid in them it looks very bad for the manufacturer. I don't believe that.the last thing an auto manufacturer needs is bad publicity for failing MAJOR components. I bought two cases of Napas Mercon/DextronIII and will go buy two more soon, as they are no longer making this formula under this title anymore, once it's gone it's gone.
Ford figures by the time any damage is done all the 4R100's will be out of warranty and they can make a killing on tranny repair.
Show me proof that Mercon has been reformulated.
